A trip to a traditional African lifestyle - today unique in the world! This year Jenny Ajland founder of the dance school Urkraft in Sweden will be your guide. Tour operator in Guinea in collaboration with Jenny & West African Travel is Fanta Yayo. Jenny has many years of experience of course arrangement in Guinea and Fanta who grew up in Guinea but now lives in Sweden is a griot with a cultural and artistic knowledge above many.
TRIP ARRANGEMENTS:
The Island Rom:
When we arrive in Conakry, Guinea's capital city, at about 19pm December 27, we will sleep one night in Conakry for the next morning head out to the natural beauty of the Island Rom which is located about 45 minutes by boat from Conakry.
There we will celebrate the New Year and install ourselves along with our "staff" and stay for 10 nights.
We will stay there next to the sea with access to swimming and sun at any time in a beautiful thriving nature. Rom has a small village where there is a small local Bush-cafe, bar, disco etc. We will be able to do boat trips to The foreign Slave island "Foteba" and to a larger island called Sorro. There are also opportunities for fishing, visit medecine men, fortune-tellers, etc. ..
Conakry:
On the morning of 7th January we head to the city of Conakry to leave our stuff at our residence located in Matam, one of the artist district of Conakry. Then we´re free to explore Conakry and its vibrant life, go to the market, street parties, Clubs, etc. In the afternoon we ll dance with one of the famous local african dancetroups "ballets" : Commune Matam. On Monday, we will also hold a Dondounbah-street dance and "bye bye" party for those who travel for 2 weeks and are going home the following day.
WORKSHOP CONTENTS: 3.5 hours / day, 5 days / week. The dance is at different levels and you can be anything from beginner to advanced. Travelers have previously appreciated our approach to dance at 10-12.00am and at 17-18.30pm, where you can select the coures in djembe, Doundoun, DOUNDOUN-DANCE or other instrument. You can also come along and just drum the hole trip. A drumrent fee at 100kr/week (10Euro/week) for those who want to drum and not buy their own drum, which many do. You will mainly learn West African dances with native teachers but also have the opportunity to try some African Newstyle / Afro Street & Ndombolo with Jenny & Fanta.
All dance teachers and musicians are among the best in the area and - most importantly - they are a very joyful and generous people who contribute to a wonderful atmosphere!
HOW A TIPICAL DAY CAN LOOK LIKE
Dancing at about 10-12
Sunbathing/ bathing in the sea of the island of Rome.
Lunchtime 13pm.
Free time for swimming, resting, going to the market, visiting schools, playing with children, check out the cooking, take note of the African everyday life and more.
17-18.30 Drum Course / Doundoun-Dance.
At 19pm Dinnertime.
Free time to cuddle, go to the local bar, getting to know all the wonderful people and more.
When we are in Conakry usually there is a lot of Doundounbas / street dance partys in the afternoon / evening.
We will also check out a lot of Guinean dance groups as they rehearse and get a little danceexperience with them too;)
THE FOOD: We put a lot of respect on the food and that it is cleaned and prperly cooked. There will be traditional African food for the most part! Nutritious and lots of fruit. Drinking Water you buy yourself: approx 5 sek (0,5 euro) / 1.5 litre
ACCOMODATION: 2-3 bedded rooms or room with several beds.

VACCINATION: Talk to your doctor vaccination. NOTE: It is very important that you get a yellow fever vaccination stamp in your vaccination card. It is equally important that you remember to take this card with you when traveling.
HOW MUCH SPENDING MONEY DO I NEED??
We have previously said about 1000kr/vecka and you have quite gone on a bit of money for souvenirs, clothing sewing, water (1.5 liter bottle costs about 5kr), gratuities to deserving helpers, small shipments, etc.
